Swiss Tropical and Health Institute TPH
Fully seamless and airtight – even during fumigation and under negative pressure conditions. These were the stringent requirements for coating the new laboratories at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) in Allschwil, Basel-Landschaft.

Project details
The laboratories in the new Swiss TPH building had to meet extremely demanding aesthetic and technical standards. A particular challenge was ensuring the complete airtightness of the coating, which had to be capable of withstanding daily fumigation with hydrogen peroxide. Due to its outstanding resilience and sealing performance, we recommended the polyurethane-based AI DO®® system. In total, 6,587 square metres of wall surfaces and 1,316 square metres of ceilings were coated.
Close collaboration with all project partners and regular on-site visits from our team were key to the project’s success. The work included careful preparation and application of the coating, special sealing techniques and the use of non-woven glass fabric to ensure airtightness – all integral parts of the AI DO® system. Despite the complexity and tight deadlines, the project was completed successfully on time – in fact, two months ahead of schedule.
