As part of the heritage-compliant renovation of the property dating from 1897, the façades were extensively restored. The objective was to recreate the original colour scheme and architectural details of the historic building. Large areas of damaged render were renewed, while previous unsuitable paint coatings were removed to ensure a durable and functional mineral façade system.

Before work commenced, our Technical Service Center (TSC) carried out a detailed on-site substrate analysis. Based on the findings, the façade system was defined and executed using our mineral façade paint City Mineral+. The products used provide excellent vapour permeability while meeting the requirements for sustainable and heritage-compliant façade restoration. The carefully coordinated refurbishment concept makes a significant contribution to the long-term preservation of the historic building fabric and restores the distinctive building’s original character within the townscape of Burgdorf. This reference project was featured as the cover project in the applica issue 04/25. In addition, the technical article “Paint on Façades from a Building Physics Perspective” examines the building-physics requirements of modern façade coatings and highlights the importance of a façade system designed and coordinated as a complete system.
